Old Shelf ReDo

So I found this shelf at the GoodWill for a whopping $2.99....SCORE! But it was just this ugly cream color. So I said to myself, "Self....you can totally just paint it DUHHH". So here is what this lovely piece looked like before:

It really wasn't that bad. I love the detail on this piece, but the color was, well ugly. There. I said it. I'm sorry....there's beautiful angels on it. If your wondering what its make of, I think its stone. Its SUPER heavy so I'm a little afraid to hang it on my wall, but thats where the hubby comes in with all his "hanging skills". I bought a spray can of Kilz primer and Valsper black spray paint in gloss. So first I sprayed it with the Kilz to prime it.

I let that dry for about an hour. I don't think you have to wait that long but I had to do my chores lol. Then I sprayed the black gloss paint on and wowwww. I love it. It just looks so cute to me now. The angels can sing once again!

Goodwill Goodies

My husband probably thinks that I've gone a little crazy. Iv'e hit up the Goodwill 3 times this week, lugging home all kinds of treasures each trip. But he can't yell, because Iv'e spent hardly anything. I definitely met some characters while shopping there. One young man proceeded to sing to me "Jesse's Girl". Splendid. But I'll deal with it if I can keep finding awesome finds! Thursday night is project night! My husband goes to skateboard so the house is mine to destroy for a few hours. So excited! I'll be posting some pictures tonight of my current projects. Horrrayyy for arts and crafts!

DIY Painted Vases

Cheap....Cheap....and Cheap. Ok, so do I have your attention now??? I've always loved just plain clear vases, but lately i've been quite bored of the same ol' black...white...clear. So I decided to paint my own. YIKES! I got the idea from Pinterest....you know the site that you have to minimize real quick when you hear the boss coming because you CAN'T GET ENOUGH??!!?? Well first all I did was gather some $1 store vases. YES! Then I made my way to our local craft store where I purchased some FolkArt Enamels #4118 in Yellow Light. This is acrylic paint for glass and ceramics. Best part.....only $2.49. The bottle was small so I bought 2 of them just in case. You would be surprised how far it goes. I only used half a botte, but I am going to do a 2nd coat once this dries. So lets do the math......ohhh only $3.49. Love it!
I started by just washing it out with soap and water and getting that stupid tag off the bottem that never wants to come off. I turned it upside down and let it dry for about 15 min. Then I wiped it out with  paper towel just to make sure it was completly dry. Then I just squirted a big glob of the paint in the bottom of the vase and spread it around on the inside.
Once you have covered the vase, turn it upside down so that any extra paint comes out. I will add another coat tomorrow night. So waaalaaaaa!!!! Now I must go clean up my mess before the hubby comes home!
